Classic 3-Part system

Bonnie and Clyde (Autoflower line)

PuurOrganics line

Use these as starting points. Runoff EC/PPM tells you whether to push harder or back off.

Growth stageEC (mS/cm)PPM 500 scalePPM 700 scaleNotes
Seedling0.4 to 0.8200 to 400280 to 560Keep it gentle, skip most additives
Vegetative1.2 to 1.8600 to 900840 to 1260Add CalMag if you're on RO or coco
Flower1.8 to 2.4900 to 12001260 to 1680Introduce Bud Booster and Sticky Bandit
Flush0.8 to 1.2400 to 600560 to 840Plain water or pH-adjusted rinse

pH targets by grow medium

Different mediums need different pH. Don't guess:

MediumRangeTargetKey rule
Soil6.0 to 7.06.3 to 6.8Soil buffers well, a little drift is fine
Coco5.5 to 6.55.8 to 6.2Hard cap at 6.5. Above that, iron and phosphorus lock out
Hydro (DWC, NFT, drip)5.5 to 6.55.8 to 6.0Let it drift across the range. Don't pin it to one number
Living soil (PuurOrganics)6.2 to 7.06.5Don't pH your feed water. Trust the soil biology

Classic 3-Part mixing order

Mix one product at a time. Stir thoroughly between steps. This order is non-negotiable because silica polymerizes if it hits concentrated salts, and beneficial bacteria die if they meet acids.

  1. Armadillo Armour (if using). Always first, always to plain water. Stir 30 seconds, wait 5 minutes before adding anything else. This applies even when you're on RO water.
  2. CalMag. Stir 30 seconds, wait 2 minutes. Especially important if you're running RO, coco, or LEDs.
  3. Micro. Always before Grow and Bloom. Stir 1 minute. Micro contains calcium, and calcium has to dissolve cleanly before phosphorus arrives or you get calcium-phosphate precipitate.
  4. Grow and Bloom. Stir between each. Your ratio depends on growth stage (veg is higher Grow, flower is higher Bloom).
  5. Additives — Bud Booster, Sticky Bandit. Stir between each.
  6. Adjust pH to the target for your medium (see the pH table above).
  7. Monkey Juice (if using). Always last, always AFTER pH adjustment. The acids used to adjust pH will kill the beneficial bacteria if you add Monkey Juice first.

The whole sequence takes about 10 to 15 minutes. Rushing it is the most common reason feeds come out wrong.

Bonnie and Clyde (Autoflower) mixing order

Same rules apply. Silica first, Monkey Juice last. You use either Bonnie or Clyde depending on life stage, never both in the same feeding.

  1. Armadillo Armour (if using). Plain water, stir 30 seconds, wait 5 minutes.
  2. CalMag. Stir 30 seconds, wait 2 minutes.
  3. Bonnie (veg stage) OR Clyde (flower stage). Never mix both in the same feed. Bonnie is your veg nutrient, Clyde is your flower nutrient. Switch when the plant transitions.
  4. Additives — Bud Booster (flower only), Sticky Bandit. Stir between each.
  5. Adjust pH to the target for your medium.
  6. Monkey Juice (if using). Always last, always after pH.

PuurOrganics mixing order

PuurOrganics is a 5-part organic base plus optional additives. The standard mixing order is:

  1. Armadillo Armour (if using). Plain water, stir 30 seconds, wait 5 minutes. Armadillo Armour is one of three Cronk additives that work with PuurOrganics.
  2. PuurNitro. Stir 30 seconds.
  3. PuurPhos. Stir 30 seconds.
  4. PuurK. Stir 30 seconds.
  5. PuurCalMag. Stir 30 seconds.
  6. PuurBalance. Stir 30 seconds.
  7. Sticky Bandit (if using, flower stage). Stir 30 seconds.
  8. Adjust pH. For living soil with PuurOrganics, we generally recommend not pH-ing the feed water at all. Let the soil biology buffer. If you're running PuurOrganics in a non-living setup, target 6.0 to 6.5.
  9. Monkey Juice (if using). Always last, always after any pH adjustment.

Do NOT add Bud Booster or regular CalMag to a PuurOrganics feed. Both are synthetic and aren't a fit for an organic system. Use PuurK and PuurPhos to control your PK, and use PuurCalMag for calcium and magnesium.

PuurOrganics + RO water special case

If you're running PuurOrganics on RO water, use this modified procedure to prevent calcium-phosphate precipitation:

  1. Pre-mix the full dose of PuurCalMag in a separate cup with a small amount of water. Stir until dissolved. Set aside.
  2. In your main container, add Armadillo Armour first (if using), wait 5 minutes.
  3. Add PuurNitro, PuurPhos, PuurK one at a time, stirring between each.
  4. Slowly drizzle the pre-mixed PuurCalMag into the main container while stirring continuously. Don't dump it in all at once.
  5. Add PuurBalance, stir.
  6. Add Sticky Bandit if using, stir.
  7. Adjust pH if needed.
  8. Add Monkey Juice last if using.

The pre-mix step gives the calcium time to fully dissolve and buffer before it meets the phosphorus, which is what prevents the precipitation you'd otherwise see on RO water.

Pro tips for using the feed charts

  • Start at half strength if you're using new media, new genetics, or autoflowers. Ramp up as the plant responds.
  • Monitor runoff EC and pH. Runoff tells you what's actually getting to the roots, not what went in.
  • Alternate feed and plain water if you see salt buildup or coco starts to drift high.
  • Mix fresh. You can store mixed solution up to 10 days in a sealed container, but stir before each use. Monkey Juice mixes are best used same day because the bacteria populations shift.
  • Protect your bottles. Keep them capped, out of direct sunlight, and at room temperature. Liquid nutrients don't love heat or freeze cycles.

Frequently asked questions

Why does Armadillo Armour go first, even with RO water?

Armadillo Armour is monosilicic acid (MSA). MSA polymerizes and becomes unavailable to plants when it hits concentrated mineral salt solutions. Adding it to plain water first, before any other nutrients, keeps it in the form plants can actually use. This is true regardless of whether you're on tap, filtered, or RO water.

Why does Monkey Juice go last, after pH adjustment?

Monkey Juice is a beneficial bacteria inoculant. The acids we use to adjust pH (pH down is usually phosphoric or citric acid) can kill the live bacteria on contact. Adding Monkey Juice after you've already adjusted pH keeps the bacteria alive.

Can I mix Bonnie and Clyde together?

No. Bonnie is for the vegetative stage and Clyde is for flower. You switch from one to the other when the plant transitions, around week 4 to 5 for most autoflowers. They're never used in the same feeding.

Why is coco capped at pH 6.5 but soil goes up to 7.0?

Coco has a higher cation exchange capacity than soil, which means it actively competes with your plant for calcium and magnesium. Above pH 6.5, coco locks out iron and phosphorus quickly. Soil buffers better and tolerates a wider pH range without lockout.

How long should I wait between adding each nutrient?

30 seconds of stirring is enough for most products. Armadillo Armour gets a full 5-minute wait because MSA needs time to disperse properly. CalMag gets 2 minutes if you want to be careful on RO water. Everything else is just stir-and-continue.

Can I mix all my nutrients in one bottle and pour it in?

No. Each nutrient needs to fully dissolve in water before the next one is added. Pre-mixing everything into one concentrated bottle causes precipitation, lockout, and dead beneficial bacteria. Add to the reservoir one product at a time.

How long can I store mixed nutrient solution?

Up to 10 days in a sealed, cool, dark container, stirred before each use. Solutions with Monkey Juice are best used the same day because the bacterial populations shift over time.
